Chilly, a bit breezy but wall to wall sunshine forecast it was too good a day to miss so we packed a picnic put the bikes in the van and headed over to Alton Water. We parked at the free car park by Lemon Hill Bridge and were greeted by two fat Muscovy ducks sadly for them we had nothing for them to eat :( We set off clockwise around the circular bike path and were surprised just how muddy it was - must have rained harder last night than we thought !!! The path this side of the reservoir is very up and down but the new bikes handled it great - we just love those gears and disc brakes :) As we approached the sailing area we were surprised to see no windsurfers out even though the car park was full !! - later learned it was a training day for 8/9 year olds. We headed across the dam wall (the only place which was cold due to the wind past the sailing club) and found a sheltered bench for our picnic and to watch the kids having fun on the water :) It was then back to the van, pack the bikes away and head over to East Bergholt to have a cuppa with an old windsurfing friend Ray Tatum and his wife , Ray had been involved in a nasty bike accident last year but is slowly getting over it :) - A top day in the sunshine :)
